“What is the distance of a 5K?“
A 5K is equivalent to 3.1 miles. Participants should note that Spring Grove Cemetery has many hills throughout the course for this event.
“How can I pre-register as a participant in the Matt’s 5K Pursuit?“
To pre-register as a participant in Matt’s 5K Pursuit and Matt’s 5K Pursuit Fun Walk, you may visit our RunSignUp page or download and fill out the Form for Matt’s 5K Pursuit and mail it in along with your payment. Pre-registration closes on March 30, 2018, but after that you can still register online from March 31 through April 11. There will be a $5 late fee added to the cost of your registration though.
“Can I register on the day of the event?“
Yes. Registration the day of the event (race day) is available from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. While we do offer this as an option, we strongly encourage participants to pre-register online or by mail to ensure that we can provide you with the correct T-shirt size, have you avoid the late registration fee ($5 per person), and minimize possible delays of the race.
“Do I need to bring my printed ticket to the event to be able to participate?“
No. If you have pre-registered online or by mail prior to the event, we will have a record of your registration.
“When and where can I pick up my participant packet?“
This year there are 3 options to pick up you participant packet. They are as follows:
• Race Day from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM
• Thursday, April 12 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Queen City Running (5819 Cheviot Road | Cincinnati, OH 45247)
• Saturday, April 14 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Shooks Bar & Dance (920 Race Street | Cincinnati, OH 45202)
“When and where do sign-in on race day?“
You can sign-in (and pick up your T-shirt and participant packet) on the day of the event between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM at the registration check-in tables located next to the main gate entrance of the cemetery on Spring Grove Avenue.
“Can I walk the course rather than run it?“
Absolutely! Participating walkers are more than welcome to join in the event. You may sign up as a Race Walker for the Matt’s 5K Pursuit, which will be chip-timed, or you may sign up for Matt’s 5K Fun Walk, which is not chip timed. We do ask that you that you start toward the back of the group in order for Race Runners to be closer to the starting line.
“Are participants allowed to take strollers on the course during the 5K?“
Yes! Participating Matt’s 5K Pursuit Race Walkers or Matt’s 5K Fun Walk participants with strollers are more than welcome to join in the event. We do ask that you that you start at the back of the group in order for Race Runners to be closer to the starting line. This will avoid traffic jams along the course.
“Are dogs welcome at the event?“
Absolutely! Be sure to keep them on a leash and under control at all times. Be aware that several police K9s will be at the event as well.
“Is there an age limit for Kids’ Fun Run?“
Yes. This event is designated for kids age 10 or younger.
“How do I become a sponsor for this event or sponsor a mile marker?“

“If I don’t want to participate in the 5K, can I still contribute to the cause?“
Absolutely! We appreciate donations in any denomination and appreciate you generosity. To become a donor, visit our Donations page for more information on how to submit your donation or join us on the day of the event and drop off your donation.
